|Responsibilities||This job responsibilities will depend on the qualifications and interests of the candidate, and they include (but are not restricted to):
• Meshing methods, algorithms, and software for producing finite element meshes from large anatomical images,
• New algorithms and software for analysis and visualization of high dimensional data for better understanding engineering design,
• New algorithms and methods for modeling, representing, and visualizing uncertain data relating to complex geometric objects.
|Minimum Qualifications||We are seeking talented and committed individuals with demonstrated abilities to work well with minimal supervision in a multidisciplinary research environment. Backgrounds in the engineering sciences, applied mathematics, computational and/or computer science will be considered. Individuals comfortable with one or more of the following areas is preferred: computation geometry, image analysis, numerical simulation, data analytics/learning, visualization. Being self-motivated and having good organizational, communication, and teamwork skills is essential.
The Scientific Computing and Imaging (SCI, www.sci.utah.edu) Institute is a world-class research institute at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. We are a highly dynamic and motivated group of over 150 faculty, staff, and students. The overarching goal of the Institute’s research is to create new techniques, tools, and systems to provide science-based solutions to problems affecting various aspects of human life. We believe that developing state-of-the-art computational solutions for such complex systems requires research in a number of areas within scientific computing including visualization, simulation, and modeling.
