The Department of Biomedical Informatics at the University of Utah is recruiting to build on a nation-leading clinical informatics program that is impacting lives daily to address real-world problems in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, for ab initio co-development of robotic hardware, sensors, computing, and biomedical technologies. Jointly with The Scientific Computing and Imaging (SCI) Institute, we are seeking an Assistant Professor in the Career Line (Research Track) with demonstrated abilities in research, as well as the commitment to teaching at the graduate level. Hard working, self-directed individuals with a record of achievement and commitment to excellence in research on the use biomedical informatics, biomedical engineering, computational biomedicine, or robotic medicine. A Ph.D. in biomedical or biological sciences comprising training in biomedical engineering or robotics is required. Having taught in a biomedical engineering or biomedical informatics department is required. Candidates must have at least eight co-authored publications in peer-reviewed journals or conference proceedings demonstrating research interest in biomedical sciences involving computational models (e.g., genomic analyses, computational phenotyping, biomolecular targets, etc.). Having top journal publications is required (Impact Factor> 10). A professional clinical degree is a plus (e.g., M.D.).

Major responsibilities will include contributing to translational biomedical research by leveraging computations, robotics, and informatics models. Candidates for the position should have a research focus in translational biomedical sciences involving computational models (e.g., data driven robotic surgery, etc.). Candidates are expected to contribute to writing grant proposals as co-investigators or co-principal investigators.
