Job Summary
Senior IT Specialist reporting to the Director of IT with a focus on end-user engagement. There may be occasional weekends and after office hours work due to the nature of the IT industry.

Responsibilities/Job Description:

The incumbent is expected to primarily provide end-user support through e-mails, phone, or in person to help faculty, staff, students, and collaborators with their day-to-day computer problems as well as systems management. Excellent communication and courteous customer service skills are paramount.

Will work closely as a liaison between the users and asset procurement to specify and purchase systems.

Will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting issues with users’ desktops and mobile devices. Must be familiar with working with a ticketing system and operating within a group using revision control for documents. Will also provide support for all moves, adds, changes (MAC) of end-user systems on the network as well as provisioning network access control (NAC). 

This position will work closely with the senior administrators on additional projects and will be provided a path to gain skills and knowledge for further career advancement.

This is not a remote position, though hybrid work can be done where in-person interaction with the users is not required.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) and 3-5 years of experience in the field or in a related area.

Preferences
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field. 10+ years of experience preferred. 
Experience working in an environment with advanced research in HPC such as GPGPU and MPI is a strong plus.
Experience working with a variety of operating systems such as various flavors of Linux, Windows, and macOS and be familiar with automation strategies for both maintenance and deployment such as MDM’s and scripting for environments with hundreds of systems is preferred.
Experience in network management skills for end points (MAC management and NAC) is a strong plus and preferred.
Emphasis will be placed on good interpersonal skills and strong customer service.
