Blend Comparison: Animated Results of Splatting vs Attribute Aware RBFs and Different Color Spaces

An illustration of different color blending strategies as particles combine. Particle splatting uses over compositing, which fails when particles intersect. Our Attribute Aware RBFs instead do an RBF weighted blending of colors. If blending is done in a gamma color space, energy is lost but individual particle classes are more distinct. If done in a linear color space, blending preserves energy and produces a smooth gradient between particles. (Click images to change zoom location)
