Resolution Study Home
About
The resolution study is designed to explore the current resolution dependence on certain physical phenomena discovered in uintah. These phenomena manefest in different several ways including: burning rate discrepancy at different resolutions, different pressurization speeds for explosive containers, different bursting times and different bursting points. Current suspect problem is the material interactions between particles due to different particle densities. These particle densities differ with different resolutions. We are attempting to find the relationship between these particle densities and resolution. Currently my component of the study is in the fourth revision of project setup.
Problem Setup
The problem consists of two 2D cases:
- -a cylinder of PBX 9501 with surface cells at burning temperature
- -a cylindrical steel shell slightly above PBX's ignition temperature surrounding a cylinder of PBX.
