Designed especially for neurobiologists, FluoRender is an interactive tool for multi-channel fluorescence microscopy data visualization and analysis.
Deep brain stimulation
BrainStimulator is a set of networks that are used in SCIRun to perform simulations of brain stimulation such as transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) and magnetic transcranial stimulation (TMS).
Developing software tools for science has always been a central vision of the SCI Institute.

Background

Dr. Weiss received his B.S. in Bioengineering from the University of California, San Diego in 1989, and his M.S. in Bioengineering from the University of California, San Diego in 1990. He completed his Ph.D. in Bioengineering at the University of Utah in 1994. Dr. Weiss received postdoctoral training in computational biomechanics as a finite element analyst working with the the Applied Mechanics Group and the Methods Development Group at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. Dr. Weiss was a Research Assistant Professor of Bioengineering at the University of Utah from 1994-1998, and a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Arizona from 1998-2000. He joined the Bioengineering Department at the University of Utah in August 2000, and he is currently a Professor of Bioengineering and an Adjunct Professor of Orthopaedics. In 2006 he was elected a Fellow of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering.
