Background

I studied Portuguese at the University of Utah, but have always had an interest in computers and minored in Computer Science. I've worked in systems administration for over 30 years, with shorter stints as a software developer, first at Indiana University and currently at the University of Utah.

Current Responsibilities

I'm currently acting as the Director of IT for SCI. They say there is no "I" in team, but there is one in SCI, so I'm working hard to merge the two to have a great team at SCI.

Research Interests

My first passion has always been computer graphics, with my first job at the UofU running the then world's largest graphics supercomputer for SCI back in the 90's. Though honestly all aspects of computer research interest me from AI, to cybersecurity, to simply learning another programming language (currently python). Fairly early in my career I decided that I enjoyed programming more as a hobby and focusing on building cyberinfractures that allow our talented researchers to do what they do best.
