Wasim has an undergraduate degree in Electronics and Telecommunication. After graduation, he has worked as an RTL Design and Formal Verification engineer for IEEE 802.11 WLAN standard IP development at Qualcomm.

His present academic and research interest broadly lie in Machine Learning and its application in Image Processing, Visualization, and Computer Vision. He is particularly interested in extracting meaningful data from different medical imaging modalities by using automatic computer-assisted methods that utilize machine learning techniques. He is passionate about building systems that use ML to accomplish tasks usually performed by intelligent beings.

Current Responsibilities

  • Developing an automated python interface for CryoEM screening and data collection
  • Implementing XCryoNet as an integral part (ML plugin) of the automated interface with CryoEM
  • Developing a Graphical User Interface (Interactive Visualization of Shape Data) for the Shapework data portal
